On a 1 3/4 inch (4.45 cm) red square with rounded corners, a blue geometric figure, outlined in yellow, formed by four discs centered on the diagonals of the square and overlapping a larger central disc; the square to be worn one point one.
The colors blue, yellow and red represent the three basic combat arms and thus symbolize a fighting force of Infantry, screened by Armed Cavalry with both of these arms supported by Artillery.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 21 January 1952. It was rescinded on 8 April 1958. (TIOH Dwg. No. A-1-198)
